If you missed Instapicks last week, please accept my sincere apologies for not posting.
You see, what had happened was… I don’t even remember what happened.
Let’s all hold hands and sing the theme song of Frozen as we forgive and let it go.
I’ll more than make up for it with this post because you are in for a picture overload. Brace yourself!
Thanks to ‘Denike, I found a new way to post the Instagram pictures and videos here in such a way that you can see each person’s handle, caption (which on some occasions is even doper than the picture) etc!
I’m so excited!
This photograph captures for me, the essence of an Ashante woman: confidence and wit. History has it that the Ashantes adopted a matrilineal system of inheritance because the only thing they could be sure of, is who the mother of a child is. The mother and her brothers therefore became the main people responsible for raising their children. The Ashantes may be led by a man but the king maker is actually a woman and when someday, the current king transitions, it is his sister's son who will ascend to the throne; and he will most definitely be chosen by a woman. Men of low self esteem don't thrive very well around Ashante women. Photo by Nana Kofi Acquah @africashowboy (Copyright: 2014). #Bonwire #Ashante #Kumasi #Ghana #Africa

Love this simplistic shot of Ms. Lauryn Hill.
I'm kind of slim-chubby, with not-perky boobs but that's not going to stop me from wearing what I want. Do not let your insecurities (which have sadly been imposed on you by corporations that run the beauty industry because you can't sell a beauty product without convincing the customer that they need to 'fix' or 'hide' his/herself) choke you. People may stare out of interest combined with surprise but it's okay. Keep going. Keep being. Life is short. Like my orange dress. But honestly, if wearing a too-tight dress for 10-12 hours makes you happy, please do that.

There's a story in my family the mythology of my becoming: a little girl arrives at the first day of school with a letter in her pocket firm instructions from her father about how his mirror child his left handed miracle was no error to correct no ancient curse to undo I imagine this little girl carrying that letter for the rest of her life heavy as an anchor a tether against some unknown ocean held fast by her father's hand she was his daughter and that was enough Happy #lefthandersday.
