Transitioning

Hi guys,

It’s been way too long!

If I start to explain why I’ve been away, this post will turn to a Nollywood movie with parts 1-4.

But it would be a great injustice not to explain so here’s a summary of the reasons why I have been gone for so long:

  1. Writer’s block or rather lack of motivation/ inspiration.
  2. My phone spoilt in April (long story) and I think many of you know I prefer to blog with my phone. I just got a new phone two weeks ago. Moral lesson: Don’t ever buy a shady charger from an equally shady guy on the street in Computer Village.
  3. I’ve kind of been over my blog.

Let me talk about the last reason. There’s no better way to put it but lately, I’ve been so over my blog. I think this is the reason why I was demotivated and uninspired.

Now, don’t get me wrong, I am not over blogging; I am just over my blog.

I’ve been feeling the need to transition on to something different and less limiting. There are so many things I would like to do and write about but I feel like I can’t with this blog you’re reading right now.

I feel like I’ve sort of outgrown the natural hair blogger label. Don’t get it twisted, I will still blog about natural hair. I just want to blog not only about natural hair but about so much more.

There’s also the elephant in the room. People keep thinking I am Natural Nigerian! People will DM me on Instagram and ask if I will be selling my products at this meet-up or that meet-up.

I love what she does and she is amazing! But guys, we are two different individuals!

Do I know what I wanna blog about or how to go about it? No!

But, I’m willing to strategize and just go for it.

I want to expand my horizon. I want to spread my wings and fly. (LOL)

I don’t know yet where this journey will take us (yes, us. You are in this with me oh!) but let’s take it one day at a time.

With all of this, I have decided to change the blog name also to something less limiting.

And what better name than the name that’s already mine? The new blog is http://www.jenniferabah.com

If you visit http://www.nigerianandnatural.com, it will redirect you for now but that may not last forever. (Ain’t nobody got money to pay for both).

I haven’t made any changes yet to the blog design or content so everything still looks the same but I will do so slowly.

I will also change my Instagram name so if you have suggestions on a new name, let me know. I was thinking @jenniferabah.com (Does Instagram allow full stops in user names? Not sure).

And if you have suggestions on what you would like me to blog more about, or things you would like me to start blogging about or changes you would like to see, please leave a comment or send me an email (contact@nigerianandnatural.com or contact@jenniferabah.com).

Once I figure out how to do a poll, I will put one up so I can get your opinions on what you’d like to see more of on the blog. But for now, please comment or send me an email.

On a different note, how’s everyone been? Give me the gist! Anyone had a baby, gotten engaged or married, graduated, won the lottery or done anything exciting or even boring while I was gone? Gist me! I wanna hear!

P.S. I bet you thought I was transitioning my hair when you read the title.

Love,

Jen.

  1. Hey Jjen,

Great to have you back (well as the transition happens) and yes I totally remember you telling me about how people mix you up with Natural Nigerian.

I think you should go for whatever you feel pulled to more. Only you can really determine the direction the new blog will go. Boy have I missed you.

    Mwah.

  4. Yay!! She’s back. I thought you were transitioning again as well. Good thing you had to change names for your blog. I bet experiencing the whole mix-up thing was pretty annoying.
